Marlo’s 1st Birthday Party

I can’t believe our baby girl is the big ONE! Where did that year go?! It went so super fast! Marlo’s turned 1 last Wednesday on the 21st September, and we had a wee party for her on the Friday. It was super low key, I chose a week day so that it cut out lots of big kids (not that I have a problem with big kids, but we literally just moved house, and yeah..).. and the time 10am so that it was just a little morning tea – perfect! With the help of my Mum, we set up a cute little sweets table and served little sandwiches and sausage rolls as well.

Marlo’s outfit was gifted to us by the lovely Lisa from Owl & Monkey. I chose the colours and Lisa made up the beautiful tutu and bodysuit. Marlo was uber grumpy on the day (think ‘it’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to’) of the party, so I didn’t get any styled photos of her in her outfit. But we’ll do a proper wee photo shoot when the weather fines up 😉 Her headband is from Pumpkin Patch.

I made the cake myself and bought a beautiful customized cake topper from Love From Seventeen, I like that I’ll be able to use it year after year! The cake was a moist chocolate mudcake, with caramel in between the layers, along with swiss meringue butter cream and topped with Whittakers dark chocolate ganache. Yuuuum!  Now, before you think I’m New Zealand’s hottest home baker 😉 I had better point out that we got majorly spoilt… the amazing Bets from Magnolia Kitchen couriered us sweet treats for Miss Marlo! So lucky, right?! We had delicious macarons, marshmallow and coconut ice. No words needed. Other than ‘perfection’. I did however make the vegan meringues, my claim to fame. haha! Save me a job when we eventually make it back to Auckland, Bets 😉

It was such a fun morning, and I was so happy with how the table came together!
