My ‘summer with kids’ must haves

With summer fast approaching… actually – who am I kidding? It’s been 25 degrees here for the last 3 days, it’s HOT! So – with summer basically here, I thought I would share with you my ‘summer with kids’ must haves. My favourite products, what my kids will be wearing, what we’ll be taking out and about with us; the works! In no particular order – let’s kick it off!

hats.jpg

Brooklyn’s hat: The ‘Hunter’ hat from Fox & Lilly, RRP $27. Fox & Lilly has a heap of cute styles in these snapbacks, even some floral ones for the girls!  Marlo’s bonnet: from Buck & Baa, RRP $35. We’ve always been huge fans of Buck & Baa (formerly Beau Bonnets) bonnets, in summer and winter. This year I’ve chosen a bonnet with a snap closure so that Marlo is less likely to rip it off her head!

Brooklyn’s: both from Cotton On Kids – Rash top RRP $29.95, boardshorts RRP $26.95. ‘Cool’ boys swimwear is always hard to find, so Cotton On Kids has always been my go to – they have a wide range of cute boardies and mix and match rash tops. Marlo’s swimsuit is from Seed Heritage RRP A$24.95. We actually have one from last season which I bought off a friend, but this season’s polka dot one is to die for… how many swim suits can a one-year-old get away with? 😉

.footwear.jpg
Brooklyn’s: Adidas kids Adilette slides RRP $35 – you can snap these up from your local Stirling Sports (they’re only online occasionally). Brooklyn has a pair for pre-school (the black) and has a white pair with his Christmas presents. They’re easy for a toddler to slip on and easy to rinse off if they get dirty, plus they’re breathable and comfier than jandals. Marlo’s: Mini Lulu’s RRP $75. Marlo thrashes her Lulus, and though she’s only a new walker – she walks fine in these hard sole sandals. And I can tell you that they’re comfy because I have the adult versions!

snacks.jpg

Whether you’re heading to the beach, for a drive somewhere, or actually anywhere – snacks are always a must! Both of the above snack holders have been must haves for us for a couple of years now. To the left are the Replay Recycled Snack Stacks from And They Lived Green RRP $16.95 each. These hold more than the likes of other similar products we have tried and they’re built to last – you’ve heard me rave about this brand before, I’m sure! To the right are Kai Carriers RRP $10.99+  – they have a great range now, from snack packs to ice block pouches… and of course the traditional pouch that we use for things like smoothies and yoghurt. Great for keeping in the freezer and grabbing out the morning of a beach trip!

sunblock.jpg

Summer = sun. And in turn = sun protection. Of course hanging out in the shade is the ideal, but when your kids want to get down and dirty in the sand (literally, I hate sand haha)… they’ll need more than swimwear and hats. We’ve always been a Banana Boat family, we love how it applies and protects our babies’ skin from the harmful sun. The SunComfort range has just come out which I’m looking forward to trying, because there’s nothing worse than sand all through the car – and this new range is sand resistant!! Yay! We plan to use the lotion as our primary sunscreen first thing in the morning, and then top up throughout the day (every two hours) with the clear spray. Banana Boat SunComfort RRP $18.99+.

An ideal beach trip is not complete without 1; a nice big round towel and 2; a beach shade. The towel pictured above is by a NZ business, Beach Bandit RRP $89. The awesome beach shade is from Mocka RRP $99.95. We currently have an old tent style one and holy moly, it gets so hot inside it! Definitely going to be snapping up one of the Mocka ones where you can actually feel the sea breeze!

Hope you like my list of ‘must haves’ for a summer with kids! Thank you to Banana Boat for making this post possible, they were also kind enough to give us a $50 Banana Boat Prize Pack to giveaway too! Head over to Facebook or Instagram to enter.
